New Emergency Body Armour Set to Improve The Safety Of Airline Employees

A new rapidly deployable and ultra-lightweight ‘Emergency Body Armour’ is offering the latest in globally respected and field-tested body armour technology, displaying truly outstanding protection from knives, as well as blunt force trauma, often the result of a punch, kick or impact by a blunt object.

Following a number of well documented attacks on airline employee mid-air and on the ground in recent years, PPSS Group started a comprehensive R&D project with the aim to design an ultra-lightweight body armour that can be strategically located either within an aircraft or at check-in desks, and deployed within a very few seconds, effectively protecting the employee from any type of physical aggression.

The UK firm is now making this new ‘Emergency Body Armour’ available to all airlines and airports, for public facing employees to use when faced by a suddenly occurring threat or any type of aggressor.

Dealing with disruptive passengers is the responsibility of airlines, however, in reality in-flight disruptive passenger incidents occur in the presence of the cabin crew, therefore they have responsibility to handle such situations.

The effectiveness of their interventions has implications for their personal safety, as well as the safety of other passengers.

Recent incidents also highlight the need to further protect ground staff who can equally be faced with high levels of aggression and hostility of the most severe type.

Robert Kaiser, CEO of PPSS Group strongly agrees with this statement. Presenting at the global product launch at London’s Hilton Canary Wharf Hotel he said: “An Emergency Body Armour makes sense, and it will effectively help us improve the personal safety of airline staff and reduce the severity of injuries when faced by any act of physical aggression.”
