The Asp is a minimalist holster that rides securely BETWEEN the belt and the pants. That is to say that the BELT WRAPS AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOLSTER which tucks the butt and slide of the gun tight to the profile of the torso with exceptional comfort.
The geometry of a conventionally fastened holster, which rides on the outside of the belt, causes the weight of the gun to fall vertically towards the barrel, which in turn pivots on the belt loop connection and causes the butt to lean out from the profile of the torso and this creates a V orientation between the handgun and your body. The Asp uses the pressure of the belt to eliminate the pivot point and change those dynamics to a vertical orientation causing the weight and profile of the handgun to fall parallel and snug to the torso. The Asp utilizes a special safety belt clip that has a bottom prong which eliminates the possibility that the holster can be pulled off of the belt when drawing the pistol. Viper Holsters is the only company that utilizes this specially made safety clip on a holster.
This holster adds the least amount of bulk, weight, girth and length to the handgun and consequently minimizes what is carried and hidden.
These holsters weigh under 3 ounces for all but the largest handguns.
Although the Asp does not offer the deep concealment of the IWB carry of the Black Mamba, it is still very easily concealed with shirt tails, sport jacket, sweatshirt, vest etc.
The Asp can be worn behind the hip/kidney carry, appendix or crossdraw due to the ability to adjust the cant instantly.
Because the Asp swivels on the belt clip the holster automatically shifts to a more forward cant if you sit or drive a vehicle.
The Asp is exceptionally comfortable for all day, every day carry when engaged in physical activity.
